Every Thursday you will find me at my girls school serving hot lunch. Once a week we bring in lunch for all the kids. I feed aprox. 80-90 kids every Thursday. Today on the menu was Jason's Deli and it was heavenly. We served ham, turkey or pb&j sandwiches, they came with chips, pickle and a cookie. All the lunches came in a "lunch bag" already packed and ready to go. It was by far the easiest lunch to serve ever.
Since American Heritage is a small school the families are asked to volunteer 21 hours of service per year per family. I am on the hot lunch committee, it is pretty easy and a whole lot of fun for me. I love watching the kids be "kids"for a change. Laughing and sharing stories and just being happy, is the atmosphere in the lunchroom at AHA. Hot lunch acts as a fundraiser for our school as well. It pays for field trips, end of the year parties and some other activities during the year too. I love to be a part of something that is helping my children learn and grow in so many ways.

I think every family should be required to volunteer 21 hours a school year no matter what school they attend. What a yummy lunch, by the way!
